Kultar Banga has been working in the wireless service provider, defence and public safety fields for 25 years. Recent achievements include leading business development for Cisco Systems in commercial off the shelf (COTS) networking solutions for land and naval networks for use in national security markets worldwide. He has successfully sold IP networking solutions into multimillion-dollar government programmes.
At Cisco Systems, Kultar developed and won new incremental business through developing partnerships with global defence systems integrators such as BAE Systems, Teledat, L3 and others. His relationships with end customers and third party partners enabled him to build a $300m pipeline business. Today cyber-security is at the forefront of challenges facing every government; in this field Kultar shaped the Cisco Systems European strategy for Cyber-Security.
Solution sales included embedded technology such as mobile access routers, Telepresence, unified communications, security, switching and generic routing products. Programme wins included; the Falcon tactical network for the UK army, deployed networks in Saudi Arabia and naval networking solutions for the UK Navy. New areas of business development encompassed joint engagement with third parties in Cyber-security, the Defence Core Network Services programme and cloud based solutions for security.
From 1990 to 2000 Kultar worked with wireless technologies, which included, MPT1327, Mobitex Packet Data Systems, Tetra, GSM and 3G. He successfully led teams of engineers and supporting staff to take wireless products to market with GSM service providers in Europe.
Kultar has a background in RF radio and transmitter design, he has researched, designed and developed many microwave components and transceivers while at Thales (formally Thorn EMI) for military applications.
Kultar has a BSc (Hons) in Electronic Engineering from Nottingham Trent University, MSc in Microwave Engineering from University College London and a MBA from The University of Portsmouth. He is a Chartered Engineer CEng. (MIET).
